By the end of March, the directly subordinate plant of BaoSteel Co Ltd has achieved continuous pollution reduction of sulphur dioxide for 15 months. Compared to the planned value, the actual pollution reduction exceeds 1600 tons. Therefore, BaoSteel Co Ltd has won Shanghai EPA Excessive Pollution Reduction Award.
Sulphur dioxide is the important in measuring and defining whether the atmosphere is polluted. The emission of sulphur dioxide is seriously controlled in steel corporations. Recently, Baosteel Co Ltd has committed to sulphur dioxide pollution reduction by building up desulphurizing system subsequently in No 1 and No 2 lines of electric power plant and No 3 sintering machine.
The desulphurizing systems are running in high efficiency to contribute to the continuous pollution reduction of sulphur dioxide. The total sulphur dioxide emission of the subordinate plants was 13252 tonnes last year which is 748 tonnes less than the planned value. The total emission in the 1st quarter of this year is 2701 tonnes which is 882 tons less than the planned value. It has made positive contribution to procure over 90% rate of air of fine quality within the plants of BaoSteel Co Ltd.
